There are 35 different species of pheasant known today. Male pheasants are usually bigger than the females, have longer tails, and are more decorated in bright colors. In many U.S. states and in the United Kingdom, pheasant hunting is very popular. However, in some states it is only legal to hunt the male pheasants. Normal pheasant speeds are between 27 to 38 mph, but they have topped speeds of 60 mph when chased. Pheasants are native to Asia, where they were bred to be hunted, but have spread across the world.
