MARK HUNTSMAN RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF THE UTAH STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION
Members of the Utah State Board of Education re-elected Mark Huntsman as chairman and Brittney Cummins as vice chairwoman during a meeting Tuesday evening. This will be the third term for Huntsman, who was elected to the board in 2014.

BLM RESCINDS FIRE RESTRICTIONS IN JUAB, MILLARD COUNTIES
The Bureau of Land Management will rescind temporary fire restrictions on all lands administered by the Fillmore field office in Juab and Millard counties effective 12:01 a.m. Friday. The rescission includes campfires outside of established campground fire pits; smoking over dry vegetation; and cutting, welding or grinding of metal.

LITTLE SAHARA RECREATION AREA VISITOR CENTER REOPENS
The 700-foot Sand Mountain is the focal point of the 60,000-acre Little Sahara recreation area. The Bureau of Land Management's Fillmore field office will reopen the Little Sahara Recreation Area Visitor Center on Sunday, just in time for those planning a visit during Presidents Day weekend.

FILLMORE MAN CHARGED WITH ARSON FOR HOTEL FIRE
Jaden Hodges, 18, was charged Monday in Millard County's 4th District Court with aggravated arson, a first-degree felony; burglary of a dwelling, a second-degree felony; and theft, a class B misdemeanor. On Friday, at about 7:30 a.m., Hodges, who worked at the Sunmart Chevron gas station, took a gas can off the shelf, filled it with about $5 worth of gas, and walked over to the Pine Creek Inn next door, 885 S. Park Ave., according to a Millard County Jail booking report.
