3.9 EARTHQUAKE SHAKES CALIFORNIA BORDER
A 3.9-magnitude earthquake shook the California desert near the Mexican border on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The quake, at 5:48 a.m., was centered in the Borrego Valley 12 miles southwest of the Salton Sea.
